Many a times there have been stories of people who loved horses but were just not able to ride one with ease and comfort. There are innumerable instances of people getting caught unawares while riding a horse and suddenly find that the horse reacts strongly or simply refuses to budge an inch and even stories about how some horses simply run as fast as possible and the rider simply loses control of it. Question by w ehr: I am looking for links to articles or videos on how to ride a horse that is spur stop and spur slow trained ?
I am looking for a client of mine that would like more info on this and also how to extend out a horse that has had this training.

Best answer:

Answer by burdfour
Delphi Forums “Pleasure Horse Journal Online” forum talks about spur stops a lot. The condensed version is that a firm steady squeeze, especially up near the girth, means for the horse to collect himself, slow, and/or stop/back, a leg further back would move the hind end, one leg up near the girth would control the shoulders. To extend the horse, use a bump, bump instead of a steady squeeze. Spur stop has a lot of personal techniques to it, and not all horses are trained the same, but most seem to have the general picture. It finally clicked in my brain when one of the trainers at that site said that she teaches her students “squeeze to slow, bump to go.” i have added some sites that I found interesting. The wikipedia article has a lot of good links.

Personally, I am comfortable with the spur stop cue. Any technique can be overused to the point of abuse, but I put this cue on my 17 year old horse over the course of one winter, and it does add a touch of silk to a smooth ride, for want of a better description. I personally disagree with the opinion that a spur stop trained horse can be used for only one event, WP, I knew (personally saw) a very spur stop trained horse that even ran speed events, and other that was used as show hunter. They just used the “bump to go” half of the equation, and used their legs to rate the horse, rather than pulling on the reins.

It is a frequent belief that the best pony racing method can only be done by the experts. This is very far from the loyalty. What you may not know is that you yourself are gifted of creating a technique that can give you wins and more wins.

How?

1. By looking at the last hurry the charger has run.

When was the last time the mare you are gambling on has run in a gallop? Was it the months or being ago? These questions are important if you want to know how skillful that certain mare is.

If it has not run for a point of time, it may have experienced some health problems which will hinder the next line it will participate in. Besides that, it might not be in the proviso to present well during the incident.

Nevertheless if the pony has just recently been in a dash, there is a venture that it will operate its best. This is especially if it dead with better repute.

2. By looking at the number of sheep competing.

Make a plain calculation inside your precede. The more, the competition there is, the lesser the opening of your mount engaging. Even if it has the good imprints vinyl, its odds have become slim compared to when it is competing with fewer livestock.

Always think of it that way. On betting, believe the number of pigs. If you think there is another mount better than yours, then try putting your bet on it so that you will not regret your firmness later.

3. By glance out the stallion\’s modern place in a tribe.

You are making a big fault if you bet on a steed that have come in last in the recent battle that is participated in. Even if you have loyalty that it will not come in last this time, the odds are still against you.

It is best to bet on the horst that came in on the jiffy or third notice. Chances are, it will be able to attain the first point once all factors are considered and the gorged probable is skillful.

4. By looking at the space of the racetrack.

If the racetrack is little, then it is viable that the sated form of your mare will not show. Nevertheless if the separate is longer, then you can presume unexpected stuff to happen. Moreover, your bet will be given a better shot at charming that speed.

5. By choosing \”favorites.\”

Horses that are favorites by the majority have more than 33% chances of winning as opposite to non-favorites.

Try to opt for these favorites especially if the bets being sited are well right to your resources.

To win in the horse racing contest is a material of having an approach that will work well for you. Form your own system based from the factors mentioned above and you will get to passion and like this amusement.
